Giving Back, One Meal at a Time

Written by DispatchTrack | Aug 30, 2019

In the U.S. alone, 1 in 6 children don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Food insecurity outside our country is far worse. In the shadow of this silent, desperate truth there is light, sparks of compassion that we were lucky to be part of last week in Louisiana.

Giving back is a Nationwide Tradition and things were no different at this year's Primetime show in New Orleans. KB Madan and I represented DispatchTrack at the semi-annual conference, kicking off the event with our colleagues and other attendees by helping pack meals for children in the U.S. and Haiti. The meals will be shipped out over the next 6 weeks.

The meal packing event is part of a program that helps provide meals for No Child Hungry, the food-fulfillment arm of Orlando, Fla. based My Neighbor's Children. The organization is dedicated to helping empower and protect the most vulnerable, poor children, from injustice and hunger.

Within one hour we broke through the goal of 60,0000 packed meals, hitting 85,968 meals. Members packaged meals continuously throughout the conference, bringing the final tally to over 180,000 meals, ready to ship. It's a small gesture against unfriendly odds but also a warm reminder we can always do more to help those with less in our world.

If you're interested, it's easy to set up a "meal packaging event" of your own at the next company or community gathering. Or you can sponsor an experience by becoming a "title sponsor" for a large meal preparation event.
